More than
ceramics—
it’s friendship, fun, and fired-up passion

Let’s be real—I’m not what you’d call “artsy.” I’m a tech geek by trade, more comfortable with a keyboard than a paintbrush, and definitely not someone who thought they'd end up with clay stuck under their fingernails.

But one day, I took my daughter to a craft studio for a fun little outing. I walked in nervous, unsure what to paint, how to paint it, or if I’d end up glazing my own hand. I had no idea what I was doing… but after one session, I was hooked. Like, “should-I-bring-my-own-brushes-next-time?” level hooked…and eventually I did…along with some sponges.

The creative bug had officially bitten—and maybe it had been lying dormant since childhood. My mom used to paint ceramics when I was a kid, and those wonderful memories must’ve stuck somewhere deep (right next to old Wi-Fi passwords and snack preferences).

From there, it escalated fast: studio visits turned into paint-at-home kits, which turned into classes, which turned into clay purchases… and then, naturally, I bought a kiln. Because if you’re going to spiral into a hobby, go all in.

What started as a solo adventure quickly turned into a group project. I’ve roped in my third-grader, one of my best friends and a few other family members to help create the ceramics and Paint-at-Home kits we offer. Our little crew includes a retiree, an airline brat, an architect, an animal rescuer and a few other wildly talented humans who all bring something unique to the table (besides snacks). It just goes to show—anyone can get into this.

That’s how Kilnship Collective was born. The name is a play on “kinship,” because this isn’t just a one-woman show—it’s a small, clay-loving crew bound by creativity, chaos, and kilns. Together, we make pieces that are hand-built or hand-painted, and full of personality—just like us.
